RECL - CSRL - CSR Initiatives

Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (RECL), a premier NAVRATNA Central Public Sector Enterprise under Ministry of Power has joined hands with Centre for Social Responsibility & Leadership (CSRL) to support the financially challenged students under the banner of “National Super 100”, a unit of Abhayanand Super 30, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. An MOU was signed on 18th June 2013 to fulfill these objectives.

The main objective of this program is to provide 11 months of free residential coaching and mentoring for getting the students in IIT and other premium engineering institutes. For this noble cause RECL agreed to sponsor 20 students from the weaker section of the society mainly from Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and also from the most disturbed state of our country i.e. Jammu & Kashmir.

The students were selected on the basis on the written test of physics, chemistry, mathematics and aptitude test and the marks of class 12th followed by an intensive interview. The project was officially inaugurated on 16th July 2013 by Shri. Rajiv Sharma, CMD in the presence of Mr. P. J. Thakkar, Director Technical and other senior executives of RECL.

During these 11 months students are provided free accommodation and food apart from rigorous training to crack the IIT. Weekly monitoring and tests are conducted to track the performance of each and every student under this program.

The training is being imparted in CSRL centers located in Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Mumbai and Srinagar.
